Wolverines Dominating 2018 Supersport Wheelchair Basketball Series

Weekend 8 of the 2018 Supersport Wheelchair Basketball Series concluded this afternoon here in Johannesburg at the Vodacom Mandeville Indoor Sports Center, with the unbeaten Wolverines maintaining their impressive wining streak with a hard fought victory over the bottom team Mongoose.

The race for second place is currently a battle between the Lions (second) and the Diesel Electric Services Eagles (third), and the two teams matched up on Saturday morning for a must win clash, with the Lions Coming away with the victory.

The battle for the final playoff spot is a neck in neck tussle between the Ethekweni Spears and the Buffalo City Metro Suns. The Spears and Suns faced off on Saturday afternoon in a must encounter for both teams. It was the men from Durban that prove the stronger side on the day and secured a hard fought victory and in so doing giving them a slight edge going into next weekends final round of pool stage fixtures, with all to play for.

Sunday morning saw the Spears and Lions take each other on, in what could be a dress rehearsal for this years SSWBS Semi Finals. The men from Klerksdorp were to strong on this occasion and secured their second win of the weekend.

The final encounter of the weekend was between the Diesel Electric Services Eagles and the Buffalo City Metro Suns, with the both teams desperate for a victory. The Eagles came out on top in this encounter with a comprehensive bonus point victory.
