The two sides have met in the SSWBS Final for the past two consecutive seasons, but the Spears had an inconsistent season this year, missing the influences of the former player Sheldon Larsen of New Zealand. They have however improved drastically of the season and will look to their points machine South African International, Thabane Tshange, as well as the veteran Siphamandla Gumbi to spearhead their efforts to send the Lions packing.

The Lions have the advantage of having had last weekend off due to the fact that they finished the pool stages in second position and secured their passage to the semi finals automatically. Boasting a host of National team players including, SA captain Cecil Dumond, Simange Mbhele, Raketsi Molete and Shane Williams, the men from Klerks dorp will go into the encounter as favorites to book their place in the  September 8th Final in Johannesburg at the Vodacom Mandeville Indoor Sports Center.
